Michaela Powell
Michaela is a Speech Language Therapist. She has 10 years experience working at the Ministry of Education, Talklink and as a Volunteer Abroad in Samoa and Kiribati at Specialist Schools. Michaela has training in Hanen, Talking Mats and is a CAT 1 credentialed assessor for high tech AAC applications.
Michaela has a broad range of experience supporting children with additional needs, their whānau and educators. She has expert knowledge of sign language, the use of pictures to support communication and high tech devices. Michaela believes in early and family centred approaches to speech and language therapy. She is next to none with her enthusiasm for upskilling adults to support children’s communication development, and loves a good op shop find for books and toys that delight our tamariki!
